3 Common Problems With Boiler Systems

Boilers are a great way to heat your home and warm your water. However, they have to be taken care of to prevent them from breaking down and leaving you with no heat or no hot water. To help you better understand when you need to have someone come in and look at your boiler for you, here are three common problems to be on the lookout for.

Weird noises.

Anytime you start hearing weird noises coming from one of the components in your home, that often means something isn't right and needs to be looked at right away. Your boiler is no exception to the rule. Oftentimes, air inside of the system will cause your unit to make banging, gurgling or whistling noises. Another common source of the weird noises might be your pump going out on you. This is especially truer in an older unit. Low water pressure is another common cause of strange noises. Regardless of how you look at it, you need to have someone come in and do some troubleshooting for you to determine what is causing the strange noises in the first place.

Leaking water.

The last thing you want to deal with is a bunch of water leaking out of your system. Regardless of whether it is a slow leak or you are getting large puddles of water around your system, you need to get to the bottom of the leak and get it corrected right away. It could be something as simple as a faulty seal or it could be something more severe like a rusted tank causing the water to come out. Depending on where the leak is coming from, the culprit is going to vary accordingly.

Low pressure.

Oftentimes, a water leak will end up causing your system to struggle to maintain pressure. When that happens, your system isn't going to be able to produce like it should. One of the things to look at is the pressure relief valve. When that valve goes bad, it can cause a number of problems in your system. The simplest way to fix the problem is to replace it with a new one. Low pressure also means your system is going to work harder just to try and give you the supplies you need for your home.

If any of these things sound like something you are dealing with, you need to have a trained professional come out and take care of boiler repair for you.
